What to Wear Wednesday: Neon and Neutrals

Hi lovelies! I hope that you are all having a lovely week so far! I woke up this morning and swore it was Thursday so I’m having a bit of a difficult time adjusting. Hopefully as the day goes on I’ll get more acquainted with the right day of the week ;) Of course I’m already looking forward to the weekend where I plan to do a little shopping! With my brother’s wedding right around the corner, I need to get shoes to go with bridesmaids dress and a dress for the rehearsal dinner! Finding the perfect dress for the rehearsal is proving slightly difficult as it needs to be conservative enough to wear in the church but still fun and cocktail appropriate! If anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears!

In the meantime though, I thought I’d fill you in on the details of the dress I wore to the most recent bridal shower. In addition to celebrating my brother’s beautiful bride-to-be, I have loved finding the perfect feminine dresses for the bridal showers. For this one, I turned to LOFT who never lets me down. I spotted this dress online actually and was immediately lusting after it but when I saw it in person, I knew it had to be mine. To make matters even better, they were having a 40% off sale that day (LOFT always has amazing sales) so the dress was in my hot little hands immediately after entering the store. What I loved so much about the dress is that it combines neutrals with the neon pink for an unexpected pop. In fact, I love this combo so much that I foresee creating it in future outfits as well!

What to Wear Wednesday: Selfie Snaps

Hi lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I hope that your week is going well and that the lucky few of you who are on spring break right now are enjoying it to the fullest! Although I’ve been acting like spring is in the air, it’s actually been quite cold in SF the past few days and now I’ve found myself back in tights and boots…ugh. But hopefully this is the last of it because I have too many pastels and dresses just waiting to be worn! For my What to Wear Wednesday posts I try and make them look more fashion-blogger by doing little photo shoots so the picture looks nice. But let’s face it, I’m not a full time blogger so many days outfit posts just don’t happen. When that’s the case, I sometimes have a slightly embarrassing habit of taking pictures in the mirror. Sometimes I’ll send them to friends to show them what I’m wearing to an event or on a date and sometimes, I have them just for me. They are a great way to see how an outfit photographs and for me to remember what I’m wearing. So I thought it would be fun today to show you some of the outfits you haven’t seen before that I’ve been wearing! This is also proof that I don’t always have my hair down and straight!

Scenes from the Weekend

Hi lovelies! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. I was originally supposed to go away this past weekend but given my recent health issues, I decided that it was best to stay home and relax. I’ve been trying to really decrease my activities lately so that I can recover from this and my hope is that soon I’ll be back on my feet and going full steam ahead like I’m used to. In the interim though, I’m trying to focus on resting! One great resting activities is going to the movies and I was really excited to see Admission this weekend. I read the book and enjoyed so I was looking forward to seeing Paul Rudd and Tina Fey’s interpretation. I must say that I didn’t really like it. I mean it was ok, but if you read the book it was kind of the polar opposite. The book is almost 500 pages, serious in nature and there are secrets that aren’t revealed until 2/3rds of the way through. The movie however took a much lighter perspective, would only give a line about what in the book was a complex story and introduced the secrets in the very beginning of the movie. It wasn’t that it was bad, but it was just kind of a disappointment. To counter that though, I watched my absolute favorite book-turned movie, One Day. If you haven’t seen it, put it on your to-see list because it is fabulous! With Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, the movie and book explores the characters relationship on one day over the course of twenty years. It’s just amazing. And now that I’ve rambled a bit, let me show you some other scenes from the weekend.

With the warm weather I’ve once again become addicted to Unsweetened Passion teas… I’ve had one every day this weekend! But considering I haven’t had coffee since November I think this is an ok indulgence!

One other event that was unpictured was watching the first Indy race of the season in St. Petersburg, Florida! I rushed home from church to catch the second half on tv (my dvr hasn’t been working, ugh) and it was such an amazing race! My favorite driver Scott Dixon did an amazing job and it was an exciting race all around! I’ve been missing Indy in my life and I’m so glad that the season has finally started. Just don’t ask me about March Madness because I don’t know a thing about it… I’m too busy watching Indy!

What to Wear Wednesday: Ladylike Lace

Hi lovelies! I hope that you are all having a wonderful week so far! Thank you all so much for your support for my People.com contest, you are seriously the best and I’m so lucky to have such wonderful friends and readers. Even if I don’t get it, it was a fun opportunity and hey, if anything, I have a screenshot of myself on People.com. That’s pretty cool in my book.

So many of you asked about the coral dress I wore to my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower that I thought it deserved it’s own post! I originally spotted this dress on another blogger named Emily aka Cupcakes and Cashmere and thought it looked so perfect for a shower. Given that I was really sick for the few weeks leading up to the shower, I also couldn’t go out and go shopping, so I took a chance and ordered it online but not before tweeting with Emily to ask about the sizing. (Quick sidebar: I LOVE it when fellow bloggers and companies answer questions like this on Twitter. It makes the online ordering process so much easier and makes you feel like a valued reader/consumer. AKA It’s cool.) Anyway, Emily let me know that it runs a little on the small side which was helpful since I knew I wouldn’t have time to exchange for a different size if it didn’t fit.

I’m not sure why my legs look like two different colors–I promise it was not a spray-tan gone wrong!

What’s also fun about this very ladylike dress is that it has a little twist when you turn around. The little cutout provides an element of surprise but it’s fairly small so it remains demure enough to match the rest of the dress. Also, what I love is the placement of the cutout. Too often, back cutouts make it impossible to wear a bra but this one is low enough that it still works.

I decided to pair my dress with simple pearls to really up the ladylike vibe for the shower and a pair of nude shoes. Days before the shower I realized in a panic that my favorite nude pumps had seen better days and that the nail was coming through the heel. Does anyone else have this problem? I guess when I strut I’m really hard on my heels! ;) Anyway, it gave me a chance to find a new pair but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and was in a serious time crunch. Enter: Ross. I stopped in one evening and saw these perfect heels just waiting for me! All in all, I’m really happy with how the outfit came together and can’t wait to wear this dress again soon!
