Hi lovelies! I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. Thank you for all of your sweet birthday wishes the other day! I had an absolutely amazing birthday and truly feel so extraordinarily blessed to have such wonderful friends! I just got back from LA and had so much fun being reunited with some of my best girlfriends. I’ll be sure to post lots of pictures soon and fill you in on the festivities, but today is the September Foodie Pen Pal reveal day so that takes precedence! I had taken a few months off from Foodie Pen Pals, but decided to sign up again in September and I’m sure glad I did!

This month, I was matched up with Bailey from Rugbygymgirl.blogspot.com. To see the snacky type goodies I sent her, check out her blog! For my box, my pen pal was Rebecca from Becca’s Healthy Living! She is such a sweet girl and it was fun that she really embraced the pen pal experience in addition to just sending goodies. I love that my box was full of such great healthy options and loved that she included an explanation about each item!

Apologies for the grainy iphone pic (though soon my phone pics will not be grainy! But more on that later…). There was so much fun stuff in this box! First of all- I always love receiving bars because they are the perfect grab and go snack for me! I love Clif Mojo bars and was really excited to try my first Nugo bar! I can officially say I am a fan too- I loved the consistency and it tasted delicious while ultimately being extremely satisfying. I was also so excited to receive my first bag of Love Grown Granola! I have been dying to try it for at least a year now and I can say that it is just as delicious as everyone in the blog world makes it out to be! It was also so fun that she sent me some great ingredients for cooking! I have been wanting to buy coconut flour for a long time now but it always slips my mind and now cannot wait to try my hand at some gluten-free muffins or pancakes! I also love the nutritional yeast and will be making kale chips very soon! All of that plus some spicy edamame made this such an amazing box- thank you so much Becca!

May Foodie Pen Pals

Hi lovelies! Hope that you enjoyed yesterday’s new blog feature and I look forward to sharing some more outfits with you soon! Don’t you love 3-day weekends? Not only do you get to enjoy an extra day of the weekend but the work week flies by! Since it’s not only Thursday but the end of the month, it means it’s time for this month’s edition of Foodie Pen Pals.

This month I was matched up with Cinnamon from Eat Pray Tri, so check out her blog to see what I sent her and head over to Lindsay’s blog to see all May entries!

This time around I received a box of goodies from Shannon at Life As a Fry! This fellow California-girl put together an incredible box for me and I was giddy when I opened it! This box was so perfect for me too because it enclosed so many items that I have wanted to buy, but just never ended up picking up at the store! Now, it was finally my chance to try them!

Since I’ve started cooking, I’ve been seeing Trader Joe’s 21 Spice Salute on tons of blogs. As someone who is still a little scared to cook with herbs since I’m scared the flavor will be off, this will be the perfect introduction. I enjoyed the polenta the other night by slicing it up and steaming it in the microwave and paired it with tomato sauce and chicken meatballs- a super fast dinner that was delicious and filling. Cookie butter was another thing on my list of products to try and I already have big plans for this and am going to make Averie’s Cookie Butter Funfetti Triple Chip bars… doesn’t your mouth water just reading the title? But in the meantime I’ve been snacking on the popcorn like there is no tomorrow. I’ve always enjoyed caramel corn, but cover it in thick layers of chocolate and I’m sold. Let’s just say that every day after work I found myself dipping into my stash. Another item I’ve been hooked on is the Bob’s Red Mill granola. I love Bob’s products but have NEVER seen granola sold anywhere! It is crunchy, flavorful and I love that it doesn’t have any added fat. I will definitely be on the lookout for this in the future!

Foodie Pen Pals Round 2

Hi lovelies! I hope that you all had a great weekend. I had such a fantastic weekend and although Vegas was a blast, it was great to be back in SF. The weather was perfect, the company was great and lots of fun things occurred that I can’t wait to tell you about in the coming days.

But since it’s the last day of the month (seriously, where did April go?) it is a Foodie Pen Pal posting day! I participated for the first time last month and enjoyed the experience so much, that I had to do it again! This time around I was matched up with Erin from Recimplicity so check out her blog to see what I sent her and see all the rest of the Foodie Pen Pals entries for even more fun.

This month I got a fabulous box of goodies from another Emily– from Cap City Lady. Emily is from Ohio and all of the contents of my box were locally made! I love trying new-to-me products and these were all especially fun since they were from her hometown! I always say that the best way to experience a new place is through the food, and now I feel like I’ve gotten a taste of Ohio!

This box was full of some delicious treats, including special chocolates (the dark chocolate cashew patties were amazing) and potato chips. I have to admit that I’d never heard of marcelled potato chips and had to look it up to understand that it referred to the wavy-style chip.

Emily also included a recipe for some amazing-sounding Key Lime cookies that I cannot wait to make. One of the ingredients in the cookies is pineapple-lime jam, which is such a unique combination! She also sent me some all-natural peanut butter that accidentally went unpictured!

Foodie Pen Pals

Hi lovelies! Happy Friday! I hope that you all have some fun weekend plans in store! I hope to relax a little after my busy week and spend some time with friends and family. I feel like there has been lots of exciting news going around the blog world, but I wanted to do a special shoutout to Julie at Spinach & Sprinkles who is pregnant! So excited for you!

Another fun thing happening in the blog world is that it’s Foodie Pen Pal reveal day! This is an awesome program created by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean where each month bloggers and readers are matched up and send their pen pal a box of goodies and a handwritten note. As someone who loves finding new products and getting stuff in the mail, I knew this was going to be an amazing program!

I totally lucked out and Lindsay was my Penpal and sent me all of these goodies:

Everything Lindsay included is so amazing! I’m such a magazine addict so I was so excited for all these new mags chock full of delicious recipes! And speaking of recipes, the bag in the lower right corner is actually the ingredients to make homemade granola bars. I’ve never made my own bars but am so excited to do so with the recipe Lindsey included. The first things to go in my box were the Clif bar (it seriously tastes like a chewy thin mint) and the PopCorners! These gluten free chips are crunchy and delicious and somehow my hand kept finding it’s way back into the bag! I’m also excited to have an Italian feast using the bruschetta (locally made in Ohio where Lindsay lives) and the protein packed, high fiber pasta! And she has me covered in the mornings too with homemade peanut butter (!) and chia seeds for my oatmeal!
